Distribution; CA, NV, OR, WA, ID, MT, BC, AB, and extremely s. AK.
Information: Seen feeding on shelf fungi, under bark or under logs, often in small groups and sometimes seen with Usechus. Also occasionally found on freshly cut logs. They inhabit forests such as Coast Redwood forests. This is the only species in this genus on the west coast. Very similar to Phloeodes plicatus so make sure to check that page out too.
Description: Body; Elongate-oblong, moderately robust; constricted near midsection ,completely dark grey to brown, appendages also dark grey to brown and without bright orange-yellow setae. Tarsal formula: 5-5-4. Antennae clavate, 11-segmented with a 3-segmented club. Pronotum with many divets and raised portions and a multitude of small to medium round tubercles. Elytra: dark grey to brown and with many raised portions and divets. They elytral suture is raised. Elytra also with many small round tubercles and few large projections near the apex of elytra. Ventral surface fairly plain and regular, but the prosternum has many small rounded tubercles. Antenal groove absent.
