Description: body: elongate-cylindrical, subconvex. dorsal colouration very dark red, glossy. Head large, eyes large, black. A small ridge borders the dorsal surface of the head, within the ridge is smooth, micropunctate, punctures widely spaced. One ridge should be present on either side of the dorsal surface of the head inside of the outer ridge, beginning halfway down the head, ending near the centre of the clypeus. Mandibles triangular, tips sharp, curved slightly inward, opaque reddish-orange, inner margin black. Antennae pale to dark opaque reddish, moniliform. Head and pronotum darker red than the elytra. Pronotum semi-quadrate, lateral margins rounded, widest nearest the head. Lateral margins very thin, two long setae near both lateral sides of the front angles, one on either hind angle. Hind angles squared, front angles obtuse. Pronotal disk subconvex, smooth, micropunctate, glossy, median line well-defined. 8-9 striae per elytron, each striation lined with small fovea, intervals red, somewhat pale. Humeral setae very long, pale. Humeral angles sharp, obtuse. Apices pointed. Ventral faced glossy dark red, legs dark, opaque reddish-orange. Most ventral faces heavily micropunctate.
