Head large, triangular; surface of the head mostly smooth, often translucent, allowing for the internal structures of the head to be visible; two broad, shallow dimples may be found on the frons, which continue onto the clypeus. The suture between the clypeus and the frons may appear darker than the surfaces around it. Labrum rectangular, short, front margin wavy: often darker in colour. Mandibles triangular, curved; tips curved strongly into points. Palpi fully pale. Antennae pale to dark yellow. Antennal pubescence begins on the third antennomere following the pedicel. Eyes stringly bulging laterally, but somewhat reduced in size. Two short supraorbital setae over each eye. The base of the head should not be constricted to any degree. Pronotum short, rather broad: cordate. Front margin curved inward, with a weak median angle; front angles pointing forward; lateral margins strongly sinuate, widest just before the front angles, narrowest at the base. Lateral margins weakly beaded. Median line weak, often darker than the surface around it. Centre of the disk elevated: smooth. Dorsal lateral and basal margins depressed. Elytra strongly ovate; 8 thin striae per elytron, intervals flat. Interval 3 should have 5-7 small setigerous pits touching the 3rd stria. Laterobasal ridges almost fully vanished. Humeral shoulders round, sloping towards the apices; lateral margins round; apices rounded, or weakly sinuate. Ventral colouration yellow, often darker than the dorsal colouration.
