Description: body: elongate-ovate, slender; subconvex. (Head size and other aspects of the species may vary slightly from one area to the next, certain areas have location-specific variants). Head squarish, slender to nearly as broad as the pronotum; pale brown to dark glossy brown, nearly black in colour. The surface of the head should be smooth, with two small dimples on the frons, which briefly continue onto the clypeus. Labrum rectangular, lateral and anterior margins opaque, pale. Mandibles dark, short, weakly curved. Antennae pale to dark orange; antennal pubescence begins on the first antennomere following the pedicel. Eyes slightly reduced in size, angled forward weakly; the eyes do not bulge strongly. Each eye should have a single supraorbital seta over it. Pronotum semi-quadrate; anterior margin weakly to strongly curved inward of the pronotal disk; anterior angles rounded-obtuse to rounded-acute, jutting forward slightly. Lateral margins rounded slightly; lateral margin opaque dark orange; hind angles obtuse, rounded; basal margin transverse or nearly so; basal margin thinly beaded. Pronotal disk about the width of the elytra; median line varies in strength; disk mostly smooth; dorsal surface along the base heavily micropunctate; lower median bulge faint, with a very faint impression on either side of the bulge. Scutellum exposed; laterobasal ridges entire, with a small lip on the humeral shoulder. 8-9 well-defined striae per elytron, intervals flattish; no elytral pubescence. Stria 2 should have a preapical setigerous pit touching, or on it. Humeral shoulders obtuse; lateral margins slightly rounded; elytra not particularly long, usually around twice the pronotal length; apices pointed. Ventral faces dark, legs pale to dark brown-orange.
