Information: may be found in wet, often muddy areas along waterways, lakes and ponds, marshes, etc.
Description: body: elongate-oblong, slender. Head triangular, face short, dorsal surface of head smooth, head glossy black. Two small dimples may be found on the frons near the base of either scapus. Eyes not reduced in size, but weakly bulging laterally; two supraorbital setae over each eye. Scapus, pedicel, and first following antennomere orange, rest of antennae dark. Antennal pubescence begins on the second antennomere following the pedicel. Antennomeres following the second after the pedicel should be cylindrical. Pronotum semi-quadrate; front margin barely curved inward; front angles acute; lateral margins weakly sinuate; hind angles weakly obtuse; only the lateral margins should be thinly beaded, front and hind margins without beading. Lateral beading should be dark semi-opaque red to black. Median line strong, dorsal faces of disk near hind angles slightly impressed, rough, rest of pronotal disk smooth; glossy black. 8 well-defined striae per elytron, intervals flattish; elytra glossy black. Humeral shoulders squarish, rounded; lateral margins rounded, elongate; apices rounded. Ventral faces glossy black, as are the legs.
