Information: may be found in wet, often muddy areas along waterways, lakes and ponds, marshes, etc. Also may be found sharing burrows with various species of Bembidion, Amara, Anchomenus, Agonum, Anisodactylus, and some Hypherpes species.
Description: body: elongate-ovate, slender. Head triangular, face longish, dorsal surface of head smooth, head glossy black or dark piceous. Mandibles orange, palps pale. Scapus, pedicel, and first half of first following antennomere orange, first antennomere after the pedicel tends to be of a darker shade than the scapus and pedicel; rest of antennae dark brown. Antennal pubescence begins on the second half of the first antennomere following the pedicel. Maxillary palps have no nipple-like protrusion(subulate palpomere) on the tip, if your specimen does have this, go to the Bembidion page. Final segment of the maxillary palps long and slender, pointed. Pronotum small, slightly narrower than width of humeral shoulders; base weakly constricted, lateral margins slightly sinuate at base, rounded near apex. Lateral margins upturned slightly, thin; hind angles weakly protrude laterally; acute or squared. Dorsal face of the disk along the basal margin punctate, disk dark piceous to black, glossy, smooth. Basal margin does not overlap the elytral base, median line weak. 7-8 deep striae per elytron, intervals flatish. Elytra glossy black or dark piceous. Humeral shoulders squarish, rounded; lateral margins nearly parallel; apices rounded.. No dorsal or ventral pubescence, ventral faces black or dark piceous in mature adults, legs dark or pale yellow.
