Description: body: elongate-ovate, slender. Dorsal colouration; dorsal and ventral faces of Anisodactylus similis are fully glossy black, except for the palps and scapus. Antennae dark, scapus orange, antennal pubescence begins on the first antennomere after the pedicel. Head slightly wrinkled, but otherwise smooth, eyes small, bulging slightly. Mandibles curved, short; close to face. Head somewhat triangular, short. Pronotum semi-glossy black, median line shallow, disk covered in minor wrinkles. Lateral pronotal margins thin, upturned slightly, pronotum rounded-quadrate, lateral margins rounded; front angles weakly curved towards head, hind angles angular, weakly obtuse. 7-8 well-defined, deep striae per elytron; humeral angles obtuse, nearly squared. Base of pronotum nearly as wide as width of elytral base. Margins thin, slightly upturned, apical margin slightly pointed, but round.
