Information: may be found along or near waterways on sandy soils; during the day sanctaecrucis take cover in small burrows along high banks, or among/under leaf litter, logs, loose bark, and stones.
Description: body: elongate-oblong, moderately robust. Head triangular, surface of the head glossy black, heavily micropunctate; two curved sutures on the frons, curving in direction of the eyes; clypeus slightly longer than the (rectangular) labrum, with two-three (2-3) setae on either side of the clypeus, (ONLY one on either side for A.alternans); labrum with dark or relatively pale opaque margins; anterior margin of the labrum wavy. Eyes not enlarged, nor reduced in size; bulging laterally; one supraorbital seta over each eye. At least scapus and pedicel pale yellow-orange, rest of antennae darker. Lower mouth parts pale; mandibles curved, with slight "bend crease" in outer median; dark colouration, outer margin often weakly opaque. Head nearly as broad as the pronotum. Pronotum squarish, glossy to weakly glossy-matte black; ONLY lateral margin beading is uniformly opaque orange-yellow, the lateral beading basally and on the anterior margin very from solid black(same as pronotal disk) to faintly yellowish-black. Anterior angles nearly squared or obtuse; lateral margins sinuate, narrowest at the base; pronotal base slightly narrower than the humeral shoulder width; hind angles squarish; basal margin weakly sinuous. Median line varies in definition; disk weakly wrinkled; heavily micropunctate in basal impressions. 8 complete striae per elytron, intervals flattish or weakly elevated, intervals matte or glossy pale to dark orange, or partially or fully brownish. Humeral shoulders obtuse-rounded; lateral margins nearly parallel; apices rounded, sinuate. Legs dark to pale orange-yellow.
