Description: body: elongate-ovate, slender. Dorsal colouration; glossy black head and pronotum, elytra dark matte grey. Face triangular-short, occiput slightly elongate, dorsal faces smooth. Single fovea above each eye, shallow. Specimens often have a faint red marking in the centre of the vertex. Eyes small, barely bulging, mandibles curved, short, close to head. Scapus and pedicel orange to piceous, rest of antennae brown to piceous; antennal pubescence begins on the second half of the first antennomere following the pedicel. Pronotum semi-convex, rounded-quadrate, hind angles weakly obtuse, front angles weakly curve towards the head. Disk smooth, heavily punctate along base and near lateral margins. Lateral and basal margins upturned, thin near front angles, steadily thickening the nearer it is to the base. Median line shallow. 7-8 deep striae per elytron, intervals slightly elevated, humeral angles squared, rounded off. Lateral elytral margins weakly upturned, rounded near apex. Ventral faces glossy black-piceous. Legs glossy black, tarsi black or dark reddish.
