Description: body: elongate-oblong, flattish. Head of mature adults should be glossy black in colour, with a pale, or dark red pronotal disk, laterly having very dark brown, nearly black elytra. Dorsal and ventral aspects of this species should be fully glossy. Ventral colouration dark brown, nearly black at times, legs pale to dark orange-yellow. Head squarish, face very short; surface of the head smooth, with two small dimples on the frons, beside the base of either scapus. Clypeus short, dark; labrum pale to dark orange, anterior margin rounded inward. Mandibles dark orange, tips black; curved close to the head. Scapus and pedicel pale, all following segments should be dark to pale brown. Antennal pubescence begins on the first antennomere following the pedicel. Eyes not reduced in size, bulging laterally somewhat. Two small supraorbital setae over each eye. Pronotum rounded; front margin very weakly curved inward; front angles rounded-obtuse, nearly squared; lateral margins round; hind angles strongly obtuse, rounded; basal margin round. Lateral margins very faintly beaded. Pronotal disk fully smooth, weakly convex, slightly narrower than the elytral shoulders. 8 well-defined striae per elytron, intervals flattish, glossy, no elytral pubescence present. Humeral shoulders obtuse-rounded, squarish; lateral margins roughly parallel; apices rounded, very weakly sinuate.
