I can't get my purchased music to show up and thus be accessible in iMovie. The songs are downloaded off the cloud in my physical iTunes library. I have gone to iTunes preferences and allowed my iTunes library to share with other applications. I have deleted iMovie preferences by opening the application while holding down the Option and Command keys and clicking "delete preferences." Purchased music still doesn't show up.

However, my iTunes does not appear in other applications like Safari. In a post on the same problem - - Jim Wanamaker suggests checking if iTunes shows up in Safari using File > Open File. After doing this, my Music does not show up in the left column. Thinking this may be my problem but unsure how to fix it? I recently updated to Catalina 10.15.3 and have version 10.1.14 of iMovie and 1.0.3.1of Apple Music.

Some of my purchased iTunes songs show in my iMovie Audio sidebar, however, the songs that do show are old purchases from over 3 years ago. My new purchases will not appear. It's like the connection will not refresh. There are unplayable and unavailable songs listed at the bottom - I'm assuming these are DRM protected. However, the songs I am looking for have been purchased therefore the DRM protection should not apply. See attached picture for reference.

Open your iTunes library and control-click on one of the listed songs that is not showing up in iMovie. In the drop down menu, select Song Info and then File (in the info box that appears). At the top of the box, under the heading Kind, it will tell if the song is DRM protected.

I also am fairly certain the song is in my iTunes library, and I am attempting to drag from the library (not a playlist). However, it will not drag. As you can see in the screenshot there are two tabs for "Not in my Library" and "All," and the song only shows up in "All" which I take to mean it is in my library.

So, as I understand your post, in the iMovie audio sidebar in timeline project view an iTunes item shows, but when clicked on no songs are displayed. Do you see a message in the iTunes display pane that says "x number of files are protected and unavailable"?

Adding screen shot of iPhone setting we are referring to. First photo shows the Music Setting, the second shows the actual setting to "Show Apple Music". it is toggled off in the photo. Overnight, this will toggle back on, by itself.

Yes Apple Music seems to have several issues. I wish their software people would fix it. Seems the should, or at least be aware of this issue. I have 38 GB of music on my iPhone, so I see it turned on all the time. Sloppy coding and someone is responsible and accountable for this.

I agree that this is NOT transparent by Apple. As this issue is never addressed I also believe it by design. That action does not respect my privacy one bit. And people are correct, when you update apps, or turn it off then on, it will toggle itself on. This is the MAIN reason I use other music services. I no longer trust Apple to tell the truth. And yes, this ranks right up there with Meta/Facebook's way of using its customers.

I had a very interesting experience trying to add background music to a presentation. I found some music I liked on YouTube and downloaded the video. Because I liked the music and wanted a high quality mp3 I purchased and downloaded it from the composer. I put the mp3 into the presentation using sound in Slide transition. Nothing. Then I put in the mp4 and it worked??? Any reason why it would do this

In Windows explorer if I change the folder view to details, for a standard folder the columns shown are Name, Date modified, Type and Size. When I open a folder containing files with audio extensions (wav, mp3, etc), the columns change to something else such as artist, genre, etc. Is there a way to force the details view to always show the same standard columns, viz, Name, Date modified, Type and Size?

The view changing to thumbnails in case of image files is not a problem for me, as I can go to details rather quickly in a few clicks, and it shows the standard columns by default. My main problem is audio files which seem to change the columns that are shown. I have seen this, but preferably I would like to do this without registry hacks. I am using Windows 7 enterprise edition.

Those columns are because File Explorer sees the audio files in the folder and defaults to using its "music" template to show the folder's contents. There are 2 options depending on how systematic you want the changes you make to be.

Alternatively, you can change the "music" template itself. So that any folder that windows explorer opens which it automatically applies the "music" template, will display whatever customized view you made.
