Though they vary by size and by precise mission, the “big picture” purpose of sustainable communities is to work to enact the vision of an economically just, ecologically balanced world. By inspiring and training people to implement pragmatic solutions to the problems created by our present unsustainable system of resource distribution, these communities move us in practical ways to a better world.
