PHASE 1: Workshop Series
The first phase of the HCI Capacity Building Workshop kicked off with an intensive workshop series aimed at introducing participants to the fundamental concepts and methodologies of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Held at the University of Ibadan, this phase was designed to build foundational knowledge and skills among participants.
Key topics included:
Basics of HCI and user-centered design
Understanding user needs and behavior
Conducting usability studies
Designing intuitive interfaces
Participants engaged in hands-on activities and interactive sessions, gaining essential skills and knowledge to kickstart their journey in HCI.
Out of 12 projects, 4 emerged as top projects and received seed grants for further development.

PHASE 2: Worshop Series
The second workshop in March at Bowen University deepened participants' understanding of HCI with a focus on more complex concepts and practical applications. This phase included:
Advanced HCI methodologies
Prototyping and user testing
Applying HCI principles to real-world problems
Participants also worked on capstone projects, where they applied their learning to develop innovative solutions addressing various challenges.
Out of 10 projects, 3 emerged as top projects and received seed grants for further development.
PHASE 3: Worshop Series
In May, the Incubation Programme, hosted at Nithub Lagos, provided an intensive bootcamp for the capstone project winners. This phase focused on transforming ideas into viable products and startups.
Key activities included:
Project Presentation: Participants presented their refined solutions, receiving constructive feedback.
Market Research Session: Training on conducting thorough market research to validate and refine project ideas.
Value Proposition Session: Developing strong value propositions to clearly communicate the benefits of their solutions.
MVP Development and Prototyping: Practical sessions on developing Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) and iterative prototyping.
Mentorship Session: One-on-one mentorship from industry experts to guide participants in their entrepreneurial journey.
The programme concluded with participants presenting their solutions, showing significant improvement and readiness for the market. They were also provided with pointers for further enhancement and effective storytelling for investor pitches.
This phase also included a visit to the Google Nigeria office, where participants learned about various Google projects and initiatives, enhancing their understanding of cutting-edge technologies and industry trends.
