There are many organizations offering volunteer opportunities for youth in the community. The majority of these organizations often require a young person to be 15+ to volunteer on their own; however, there are some that will allow younger youth to volunteer on their own. Local churches are often a great place for youth to volunteer. See below for a list of other community organizations to contact about volunteering.

Teen Advisory Group (TAG): Teens (grades 6 - 12) join your local TAG and let your voice be heard! TAG is a forum where teens can help their community and get a say in what programs they think the library should offer. New members are always welcome, and participation counts as volunteer time.
Teen Book Reviews: Teens receive volunteer hours for submitting book reviews! Select a book available from Aurora Public Library and write a 300 word review on it or film yourself talking about the book in a vlog or book talk format. Teens will receive two hours of community service credit for each accepted review; limit of two reviews (four hours) per month. Click here for book review guidelines. *Can accommodate court ordered community service AS LONG AS it is non-violent offense with no physical contact; also, nothing involving taking advantage of a vulnerable population
From volunteer coordinator, "We do not hand hold and they are responsible for completing the SECOR tour (sign ups are on our volunteer page at secorcares.com) before registering and being accepted as a volunteer. They need to make sure our operating hours (listed on our website) work for them as well; students often struggle because we have school hours, and Saturday's half-days fill up weeks in advance."
