There are times when it is best to embed a Studio video and other times when a link will work well. Learn more here.
This is best when students are inside your Canvas course.
Embedding a video can be done through the Rich Content Editor.
Note that you can select a video you have already created OR record/add a video from there.
Create your page, discussion, assignment, or whatever you want to create.
In the text box, locate the blue Studio icon.
Choose the video you would like to embed.
A "public link" to a Studio video isn't truly public. People outside of Canvas who do not have your link cannot see your video.
Public links are good when:
You want to send enrolled students a video before a class begins
You want to add a Studio video to an announcement/message/email that someone might read outside of Canvas (e.g., announcements pushed to my phone will not show an embedded Studio video in the email, so a link would help me know where to click to open the video).
You want to send a Studio video to someone who is at MiraCosta, but not in your class.
Click on the "share" button on the top left of your Studio video and go to "Links" and "Create Public Link." Copy it and you are ready to paste it wherever you'd like!
My process: In the Rich Content Editor, highlight the text you'd like to link. Click "Ctrl-K" and insert the URL for your public link. Set the target to a "new window" and save!
Alternatively, you can use the "link" button in the Rich Content Editor. Here's a tutorial for that process.
A demonstration of how to embed and insert a link into an announcement will be provided during the webinar.
