My New Life
By Sylvia Munoz Ordonez
I was working as deputy in charge of the Mt. Pinatubo Rehabilitation way back in 1991 in my capacity as the Senior Managing Director of the Technology Resource Center (TRC). The work was difficult, stressfull and dangerous. I was going around the Mt Pinatubo eruption affected area with the late Director Punongbayan assessing the situation and deciding on resettlement sites for millions of affected, displaced families living in tents as evacuation sites.
I practically ate nothing on time. I survived by drinking diet coke. I lost a lot of weight. One day, i saw myself in the mirror. I practically lost my breast because i was too thin. I felt them and i noticed a small lump. My sister advised me to see Dr Reynaldo Joson immediately. I did and he aspirated me. In a few days, the results said I was positive for breast cancer. I was back in my work but I had to go for surgery and radiation.
A few months later, a woman politician started meddling with my work and asking for money to be spent in infrastructure not allowed by the scientists. I refused and she brought me to the blue ribbon where corrupt people are tried.
The blue ribbon praised me for the good work instead of punishing me. The corrupt woman politician continued to harass me so i just decided to quit. The stress was affecting me.
I joined the UN as a free lance consultant as an expert in gender and women in entrepreneurship. I traveled all over Asia as an expert in countries known for their healing regimens, or traditional practices. I found out that they were all aligned to the macrobiotic principles. I was affirmed.
My UN friends advised me to go to rhe USA to join a macrobiotic camp for a week to learn how to cure my cancer the “ alternative” way. I went with my husband and became a vegetarianism for more than 20 years.
All these times, I saw Dr Joson regularly and he guided me. He checked me regularly.
In 2007, I re joined the Kapampangan Development Foundation Inc ( KDFI) as their executive director. In less than 6 years, we were able to establish two charity hospitals purely for the people with disabilities. I serve full time and pro bono.
Thank God, after almost 30 years, I am still cancer free. I have three children. And a husband who, like me, works full time for the unfortunate communities.
I thank God for my cancer. He made me re-align my life to His design for me. Should He decide to take my life anytime, I am ready. Thank you Lord for Dr Joson and Beth. They too are part of God’s PLAN for me.
