Description -

The effectiveness of the teaching learning process of the English language depends to a great extent on the proficiency, knowledge and skills of delivering the content. The process of teaching English can be vastly improved if the competency levels of the English teachers are upgraded for them to embark on a professional career as teachers of English.

Such a quality teacher should possess skills for teaching as well as assessment and evaluation. Teacher should develop the ability to asses, measure and evaluate the progress acquired by the learner with the identification of the learner differences. Today there is a great demand for this occupation both locally and internationally in the field of Education. English teachers who have reached a competency level have a very important role to play in the education field. Hence qualified English teachers have immense, job opportunities in Sri Lankan education system. Trainees, who have completed this competency level, can be employed as a teacher of English.
