Thank you for your interest in Watanda at Lake Vera, Nevada City, California. Our lodge and cabin sits on 10 acres just 2 ½ miles from downtown Nevada City. Our 2,500 foot elevation makes it an ideal location for year round recreational activities. Beautiful Lake Vera provides seasonal water activity as well as a sanctuary for abundant wildlife. Our site makes it the perfect location for family vacations. We do not have RV hook-ups or ability to run extension cords. We welcome pets with some
restrictions. Site capacity is 36.
We are no longer a site rental for weddings or organized youth group camping.
Watanda Lodge is a large rustic, year-round building containing a spacious Great Room with
comfortable seating and 10 foot fireplace with insert. We have central heat and air conditioning.
The kitchen can provide food service for up to 36 guests and includes oven with 5 burner cook top,
dishwasher and full standing freezer. The 16 x 54 covered outdoor dining deck faces the lake seats
36 and comes complete with tables and benches . Behind the lodge is a gas and charcoal BBQ.
Within the lodge is a dormitory style bedroom which sleeps 6 utilizing a king bed and 2 twin bunks.
There is an additional twin bunk in the Great Room. 12 pillows are provided. Linens are delivered in sealed zip lock bags, other than the king bed, you will need to make the twin beds. For sleeping in the Kiosks (camping cabins) you will need to bring sleeping bags or your own linens. There is a single toilet and tub/shower in the lodge and bath house with 3 showers/3 toilets located behind the lodge but is for summer use only. There is no smoking in the lodge. There is Direct-TV/VCR/DVD and wireless Internet but has frequent interrupted connection, connectivity is not guaranteed and upload/download speeds are very slow.
Watanda Cabin, is our furnished 600 square foot cabin will sleep up to 4 adults or 2 adults and
3 kids. It has one bedroom with queen bed, linens provided. A twin bunk and double sleeper in the
living room, linens are provided, but only the queen bed is made. Porta-crib available. There is a
full sized kitchen with high chair, coffeepot, toaster, microwave and kitchen and dinnerware;
bathroom with shower. There is a wall furnace and split heater/AC unit in the kitchen. Direct TV/DVD, wireless Internet at the lodge; and phone for local calls. There is no cell service. The cabin has a filtered
view of the lake, but is only steps away from the waterfront. Cabin is “Pet Friendly”, by pet friendly
we mean up to 2 dogs and no cats. Animals cannot be left alone or must be crated in your absence.
Waterfront, Our private waterfront has a floating dock, and a variety of watercraft for your use.
Life jackets are provided and required for all boaters. Chairs are provided and 2 pergolas for shade.
The waterfront has a large campfire ring and chairs as well as a picnic area with tables and
charcoal BBQ. Wood may be gathered for campfires. Campfire permits are not required. There is
no camping on the waterfront unless your group has rented the entire site as this is shared space with the Cabin and Kiosks. Wifi/cell phone charging station underneath the lodge deck.
Kiosks, We have four 3-sided camping structures (Kiosks), 200 square feet are under a roof and 200 square feet is open deck. Each Kiosk will have 8-12 mattresses. Two of the Kiosks still have their bunkbeds but are being removed. They all have a picnic table, grill table, chest cooler, smoke alarm, fire extinguisher, rake, broom and patio chairs. There is no smoking, open flame or camp fires at the kiosks. Only gas grills are permitted or you may use the charcoal grills that we have scattered around the property. Maximum occupancy is 4. Seasonal use from March 1 to October 1.
Lake Vera is a privately owned seasonal lake, shared by 3 other camps comprising the Lake
Vera Mutual Water Company. There is no public access except through site rentals. These
adjoining properties are working summer camps and will be occupied during the summer. There
will be background noise of children singing, playing or boating on the lake. We consider this a
joyful noise. On some occasions the camps will have a dance or party in which the noise/music
can be loud. There is an all lake quiet from 9:30 p.m. - 7:00 a.m., all camps must abide by this.
Only non-motorized boating is permitted. No license is needed for fishing. Lake Vera is drained
from October 1st to April 1st depending on weather. Lake level begins to drop in August and
can be quite low in dry summers. Lake grasses begin to fill in towards the end of the summer. Complete lake rules will be provided and are strictly enforced.
