The Dique las Lomitas is located just about 30 km from the city of Salta, along Route 51, at the entrance to the town of Campo Quijano.
Dique las Lomitas in Campo Quijano offers us the opportunity to connect with nature and engage in outdoor activities. 🚶♀️🏃🚴♂️ The reservoir was built in 1978 to safeguard the waters of the Toro and Río Blanco rivers and is used for irrigating the surrounding farms.
Surrounded by green hills and shaded by trees, the tranquil waters of the lake invite us to relax and enjoy a different kind of day. Its waters allow fishing during non-closed seasons. It is common to see many fishermen along its shores spending hours waiting for a good catch.

CAPILLA DE RÍO BLANCO
(RÍO BLANCO CHAPEL)
General Description 📝
A building expresses much more than an architectural movement and was the first temple in the town until the construction of the Parish of Saint James the Apostle in 1948. The exact dates regarding its construction are not precise, but it is known that the work began shortly after the start of the 20th century. Another interesting fact about the history of the Río Blanco chapel is that it was the first Catholic temple in Campo Quijano, serving the congregation of the entire region until the local parish was inaugurated in 1948 under the patronage of Saint James the Apostle.
On that same day, July 25, several significant projects were inaugurated in Campo Quijano, including the first hydroelectric power plant in northern Argentina, owned by the National Water and Electric Company; the first telephone line connecting the town to the city of Salta; and the new railway station of the C-14 branch. From then on, the Río Blanco chapel became a domestic space for the residents of the villa founded by Colonel Juan Solá in the late 19th century. Its plots were originally distributed among members of his family.
