Known as the Gateway to the Andes, Campo Quijano is an impressive place that invites you to explore its beautiful landscape, right at the foot of the Andes Mountains. The famous "Train to the Clouds" passes through here, making it a journey filled with history and railway magic.
The history of this town began in 1694 when Pedro and Lucas Arias Rengel gave these lands to Pedro Quijano Velazco, which led to the name "Campos de Quijano."
Campo Quijano developed as a railway community. On July 9, 1921, the National Anthem was sung for the first time, and the Argentine flag was raised, a date considered the official birthday of the town. The town grew thanks to the land donated to the National Government by Amalia Usandivaras, who was the owner of the Finca Quijano. This land was first used for railway construction and later to define the urban area we know today.
Campo Quijano is a traditional town in the Valle de Lerma. It is known as the "Gateway to the Andes" because it is the entrance to RN 51, which goes to the Puna and has the "Train to the Clouds".
