The 9/11 Pools stand as a memorial of those who lost their lives on 9/11 whether they were in the buildings, on the planes, or first responders. There is even a memorial nearby to commemorate those who lost their lives to the after math of 9/11 from the smoke and debris (image on top left). [1]

After 9/11 this area was created. The city continues to build new buildings around the area but not on the sight. People are actually not allowed to even play music in this area without permission. The area surrounding this contains oak trees that were near all of the sights of the 9/11 attacks. People can come and go to remember those who were lost. [1]

Personal Meaning

I visited the 9/11 reflecting pools and museum a couple of years ago on September 10th and the environment and atmosphere of the place really impacted me. I was not born yet at the time of 9/11, but going there and experiencing this made me feel like I had been. It was very inspiring to see how everyone came together and this place is truly somewhere I would recommend visiting.
