Description of Program
The Master of Science degree in Nutritional Science is an individualized program designed to develop specialized professional competence in selected areas of dietetics and nutrition. The program is designed for students preparing for positions as public health nutritionists, supervisors in dietetics and food production and service, or doctoral study in nutrition and dietetics.
A thesis is a written product of the systematic study of a significant problem. A thesis identifies a problem, states major assumptions, explains the significance, and methods of gathering information analyzes data, and offers a recommendation or conclusion. A thesis demonstrates originality with critical and independent thinking. An oral defense of the thesis is often required.
A project is a significant undertaking appropriate to the fine and applied arts or to professional fields. A project demonstrates evidence of originality and independent thinking, appropriate form and organization, and a rationale. It is described and summarized in a written manuscript that includes the project’s significance, objectives, methodology, and a conclusion or recommendation. An oral defense of the project may be required.
