The APS Conferences for Undergraduate Women and Gender Minorities in Physics, or CU*iP, are a collection of 15 regional conferences that are held simultaneously across the US and Canada and aimed at undergraduates interested in physics.
The main goal of CU*iP is to provide a undergraduate women and gender minorities in physics the opportunity to experience a professional conference in a welcoming environment in which they can connect with other female and gender minority physicists at all career stages while learning about the many different opportunities in physics and building supportive and inclusive networks.
Activities will include research talks by faculty, panel discussions about graduate school and careers in physics, presentations and discussions about women in physics, laboratory tours, student research talks, student poster sessions, and several meals during which presenters and students interact with each other. All sites will participate virtually in the keynote address to be given by Meghan Anzelc. More information about CU*iP can be found on the APS website.
All meals and accommodation during the conference are organized and the costs are met by CU*iP. Travel to the conference is usually paid for by attendees' home departments, and if this is not possible there are funds available to support travel to CU*iP (see details here) so no one has to miss out on CU*iP for financial reasons.
Cal Poly and the Department of Physics value diversity and are committed to making all CU*iP participants feel safe and welcome here. We hope to see you here in January! (link to Cal Poly’s commitment to diversity and inclusion)
