Are you or somebody you know looking for a meaningful, hands-on course this summer that fulfills GE Area C2 (or C1 or C2 for students on the 2019-20 or earlier catalogs)? If so, check out LS 255: Children’s Literature in a Diverse Society - also cross-listed as ENGL/LS 255.
In this course, students will explore culturally diverse children's literature while developing skills in literary analysis, evaluation of literary elements and structure, and examining critical perspectives, trends, and issues in the genre.
LS 255 also offers a unique opportunity to:
Teach K-12 students literary elements that enhance their writing
Guide students through the writing process
Mentor them as they create and produce their very own children's books
During the final two weeks, LS 255 will meet at a school in Santa Maria, where students will collaborate directly with K-12 students. You'll help bring their stories to life - an unforgettable and impactful experience!
Please Note: Transportation is not provided, and carpooling is highly encouraged.
LS 255: Children's Literature in a Diverse Society will meet during the 2nd 5-week summer session Monday - Thursday 12:00 – 2:00 PM.
If you have any questions or want more details, feel free to contact Dr. Ojeda at rvojeda@calpoly.edu.
