Our mission is to address the hidden pressures faced by model minority communities by promoting awareness, healthy coping strategies, and peer support in order to protect student mental health. We strive to create a culture where success includes mental well-being, advocating for open conversations, realistic expectations, and sustainable achievement.
More Than the Model is committed to addressing the invisible stress and high expectations experienced within model minority communities. Through education, awareness campaigns, and peer engagement, we promote prevention-focused mental health strategies that empower students to redefine success beyond grades and achievements.
We focus on model minority stereotypes and expectations, as we believe that is it the root cause of systematic pressure within our communities. Individuals tied to these expectations constantly have to deal with ideas of perfectionism, and the fear of failure. Work load in school, tiring extracurriculars, and parents expectations lead to an immense amount of stress and pressure. This is the reason why individuals in our communities experience mental health crises, and that's why we decided to choose this topic. So join us, along the journey of achieving peace and prosperity in our mental health, and our lives.
At MoreThanTheModel with HOSA, we plan to bring calm and support to those experiencing stress and anxiety wherever they may be. We engage in social media to provide the tools, insights, and community of support created to help people navigate life's pressures with resilience and mindfulness. We will share daily posts to inspire, soothe, and empower-all in an effort to make wellness achievable for anyone anywhere, one post at a time. Join us as we build a digital haven where stress can be managed and calm restored.
Our mission is to educate and empower people to take control of their mental well-being. We make use of our social media platforms to share knowledge from experts, practical know-how, and interactive content in bringing an understanding into the lives of people regarding things that stress them, make them anxious, or even pose minor challenges. We envision building an easily accessible supportive community within which learning about mental wellness is empowering, somewhat transformational. And we strongly believe that with education and awareness, everyone is capable of making a life that is much calmer and resilient.
We want to provide an online safe space where one can seek support, encouragement, and resources in dealing with stress and improving mental well-being. We nurture community through our social media by empathy, respect, and understanding. We would like to offer a haven where individuals can talk freely about their feelings, learn valuable wellness techniques that could help them feel connected to others who are sharing similar experiences. By fostering a no-judgment environment and positive supportiveness, we can empower our community into calm, resilience, and self-care at the grassroots level in daily living.
On our Instagram, we share content in every form of stress-relieving and mental well-being activity. From easy self-care and mindfulness exercises, to motivational quotes and challenges that might help relieve model minority pressure, our aim is always to engage with our followers in ways that encourage relaxation and balance. We also share tutorials on activities such as deep breathing, journaling, and easy home workouts. Bright visuals and relatable messages were the members of an online community of support we designed, where people could share experiences, find inspiration, and get new strategies to better deal with pressure in their everyday lives.
Our mental health consultant is Leslie Beary, Leslie is employed by The Ohio State University at Marion as the Manager of Mental Health & Wellness Services.
Dr.Beary was extremely helpful in helping us learn about model minority stress factors and how to mange them effectively. She explained the nature of this certain pressure, its physical and emotional effects, and how to recognize early warning signs before they become major issues. Dr. Beary pointed out the importance of protective factors, such as leading a healthy lifestyle with regular physical activity, balanced nutrition, and adequate rest, and shared some practical tips on how to implement these habits into daily routines. She also emphasized the value of self-care strategies like mindfulness, journaling, and joyous activities while setting boundaries and taking care of one's well-being. The other very important aspect she pointed out was to build a support network and maintain meaningful relationships in an effort to mitigate stress and promote general resilience.
