We took a trip to the Healthy Asian Youth after school program, which focuses on providing education to those in underfunded communities. We gave a talk about coping with model minority pressure at a young age to prevent it from developing into greater mental health issues!
We invited students from Olentangy's Speech and Debate team and led a group research/study session, and we taught several methods to study and research effectively without feeling burnout and stressed. Thank you to those who participated!
We visited OSU Main campus to teach Engineering students about model minority and the impact it has on their mental lives. Research showed they’re among the most stressed majors, due to the pressure of everything they think they need to live up to, so we taught them how to identify stress, understand its science, and manage it.
We invited students from Olentangy's Science Olympiad team and led a group study session, and we taught several methods to study and research effectively without feeling burnout and stressed.
We traveled to OSU Marion to participate in RUOK? Day which was a day of spreading awareness on a variety of mental health topics. We introduced the model minority stereotype and discussed our advocacy on the struggles.
Next Steps
Moving on to the future, our team wants to continue making an impact in our community, helping people to overcome their stress and relieve their minds. Coming up, we plan to make lots of more events where people can come to have fun and destress, for example table tennis meet up, where we would set up a bunch of tables where people could play and relieve their minds. We also want to make a lot more posts on Instagram and TikTok to give out tips that people can do everyday and make a bigger impact.
Next we will also hold more seminars at schools, libraries and universities, where we can bring a lot of people to talk about their problems and have a conference with everyone and talking to them on how to manage their stress.
And we will also expand our podcast where more people can listen to us on Spotify where we will give tips on how to relieve stress and post discussions with our mental health consultant.
