ISP
For my ISP assessment, I chose The Hate U Give my Angie Thomas. This book is about a young girl named Starr Carter. At the beginning of the book, Starr is leaving a party with her childhood best friend, Khalil. On the drive home from the party, Khalil is pulled over by his eventual killer, Officer 115/Cruise. The interaction between Khalil and Officer 115 was put to an end when the officer shot Khalil, which happened to happen right in front of Starr, making her the only witness. This book is told from Starr's point of view, and shows how she navigates life after seeing her best friend die, while managing her two different personalities; her authentic self, which is Garden Heights Starr - the fictional neighbourhood where she's from, and Williamson Starr - her private school personality.

Plotting/Tracking Othello
In this course, we as a class read Shakespeare's 'Othello', with different students reading the play by the characters we chose. While we read Othello, I analyzed and tracked all of the quotes that I thought were important for my essay about the play after we completed reading it. These quotes related to Othello's strength and morality. A picture of my poster with the quotes attached is on the left. The orange sticky notes have quotes about Othello's strength, and the blue sticky notes are quotes about his morality. These quotes later helped support my thesis, and even helped in my comparative essay. Reading analysis skills were used to track these quotations.
All Quiet on the Western Front Discussions
Similar to Othello, we as a class all read All Quiet on the Western Front; however, the reading was self-paced and not read together as a class. Every chapter for this book had a set of questions that we answered individually, and presented during our discussions. The reading analysis skills I have gained from this course allowed me to answer the questions well. My answers to the discussion questions are linked below.
Othello Essay
This essay was based on the question: What Correlation is there Between Othello’s Strength and Morality? Consider How Shakespeare Represents This.
My thesis for this question was: The correlation between Othello’s strength and morality is that they are often put together, as Othello’s weak mental strength causes Othello’s morality to fade away throughout the play when he believes what Iago said about Desdemona being unfaithful. My improved essay writing skills were used throughout this assignment.

Comparative Essay
This essay was based on comparing Othello to All Quiet on the Western Front. Unlike the Othello Essay, for this one I had to create my own question, and then formulate a thesis for it. The question I created was: How are the Effects of War Portrayed Within Othello in the Play Othello, and Paul Bäumer in the Book All Quiet on the Western Front?, and my thesis was: The effects of war are portrayed in both Othello and Paul Bäumer as a sense of decline in mental fortitude, which both contributed to their fates. My improved essay writing skills were used throughout this assignment.
