RIO GRANDE

The Rio Grande Model Railroad Club, our youth club, for kids ages 8-18, made a presentation to the Division 6 members at the November meeting.  They operated on their layout, and showed work on lumber loads they are building, a lumber yard, and other projects.   The Youth Club meets on the second Saturday every month.  In February they will be guests of the HO Club, ASHOME, Albuquerque Society of HO Modular Engineers, and run trains on their layout.

We had a "Show and Tell" for Division 6 members, and about six modelers brought in projects they are working on and explained their construction, and reason for building these models.  

It was also announced that Division 6 has secured a location for Rails Along the Rio Grande 2016 Train Show.  It will be held in a new venue, the Sid Cutter Pilots' Pavilion at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta Park, November 19-20.

At our first meeting of the year in January, officers for 2016 were elected (railroaded) to office.  They are:  Secretary-Charlie Baker, Treasurer-Sandy Savage, and Superintendent-Buzz Lenander.  

Member Bill Lubert presented a program on Early Diesel Switchers.  He showed some very early O-scale models of diesel switchers. 

Our next meeting will be on March 12th, and the program for the day will be a talk by Amtrak engineer Clem Harris, a member of the New Mexico Rail RunNers N-scale club, on how and what it is like to run Amtrak trains.

Division 6 meetings are held on the second Saturday of the odd-numbered months at the Domingo Baca Multicultural Center, 7521 Carmel NE, 1:00 pm.
