✨ Historical and Artistic Significance
The stained-glass windows are a cherished part of the church’s history and identity.
The most iconic is the illuminated east-facing window depicting Revelation 3:20 — Jesus knocking on a door without an outside knob, symbolizing the invitation to faith.
🪟 Window Highlights and Biblical Themes
The church houses approximately 39 stained-glass windows and a restored central skylight.
Most windows illustrate Biblical scenes:
Children with Jesus (Matthew 19:14)
Jesus in Gethsemane (John 17:1)
Resurrection scenes (John 20, Mark 16:6)
Jesus as the Good Shepherd (Luke 15:6, John 10:14)
Ascension of Jesus (Luke 24:50–51)
Jesus with Martha and Mary (Luke 10:38–39)
Jesus in the Temple at age 12
Symbols like the dove and olive branch (Genesis 8:11), the ark, wheat (John 6:35), and Epworth League emblem
🕊️ Missionary and Symbolic Windows
Four windows between the entrance and sanctuary reflect women’s missionary efforts:

Cross on globe with “Woman’s Foreign Missionary Society”

🛠️ Restoration and Preservation
In 1965, windows were repaired and storm windows added.
A major restoration project (2006–2008) by Hoefer Stained Glass cost $115,520:
All windows were removed, cleaned, repaired, and reinstalled with energy-efficient insulated glass.
Skylight fragments found in the balcony were restored by Phil Wise, with two pieces now displayed and others auctioned.
🏛️ Legacy and Continuity
The windows were built with the church and have influenced decisions about preserving the building.
The denomination’s name changes are reflected in the stained glass over the front door.
Caldwell is proud to have such an abundance of stained-glass beauty, considered a blessing to the church community.
