Hopefully not too much!
We will provide the questions and answers, ready to print.
To run Calcex at your school, you need an indoor space which will hold:
- around 16 groups of 4 students, each at a desk
- 8+ teachers at marker desks
- some spectators
- room for runners to run a fixed distance from their desk to their marker and back (about 10-15 metres?)
- a scoreboard (written on a whiteboard works fine)
The venue coordinator (or someone they delegate) needs to:
- decide on a time for the event to run at your school
- book furniture and spaces as needed through their school systems
- put up signs or provide guides to the event location from the school entrance
- print out the questions and answers and keep them confidential (<100 sheets of printing)
- cut the questions down into A6 sheets and staple
- make any judgement calls on rule-breaking
- announce the winners
- record full results for nationwide tabulation and return to event coordinator
