CALC 2022
CALC2022 took place as a series of summer events, held online in June, July and August with software support from Coventry University.
CALC Summer Series 1: Libraries as Workplaces
Tuesday 28th June, 13:00-16:00
The first in webinar in our summer series focused on libraries as workplaces and explored different approaches library workers have taken to challenge, reform or resist hegemonic power within library workplaces. It consisted of two sessions:
A multi-sector panel on trade unionism activism in libraries - Binni Brynolf, Alan Wylie, Emily Wheeler, Alice Corble, Darren Flynn (chair)
Challenging poor recruitment practice - Fair Library Jobs
The webinar took place on Zoom and was not recorded.
CALC Summer Series 2: Library Systems and Software
Wednesday 27th July, 14:00-17:00
The second webinar in our series took a critical perspective on systems that are commonly used in academic libraries in particular - LibGuides and reading lists. It consisted of two sessions:
Let's (not) make a LibGuide: How best practices can help us make better guides... or empower us to let them go - Urszula (Ula) Lechtenberg
Do we still need reading lists (and reading list systems)? - Michelle Bond
Both sessions were recorded and are available on CALC's YouTube channel:
At this event we also debuted CALC's logo!
CALC Summer Series 3: Catching up with CALC
Wednesday 7th September, 14.00-17.00
