Reporting Breaches

You can report potential breaches of the CALC Code of Conduct in several ways.

  1. Reporting directly to conference staff on Zoom, this can be done within a Zoom session or in the water cooler room by privately messaging a member of conference staff.

  2. Emailing calcconference@gmail.com with the details of your complaint.

  3. Reporting anonymously via this Google Form.

If reporting a breach please include a description of the incident, any identifying information of the accused attendee (name, Zoom handle, Twitter handle etc.), approximate time and location of the incident, surrounding circumstances, and any other attendees involved. Details of the complaint will be shared with the conference organisers (Michelle Bond and Darren Flynn) for investigation and action. If a complaint concerns one of the conference organisers this will be passed to that organiser's employers for investigation.

If a complaint is made and the complainant agrees, the conference organisers will conduct an investigation and decide if the complaint is upheld. For complaints that are upheld sanctions may be levied against the perpetrator which may include a verbal or written warning, a requirement to remove the offending material, a requirement to avoid interaction with or attendance at sessions where the complainant is present or removal from the conference without refund.

The outcome and actions taken following an investigation will be shared with the complainant (when not submitted anonymously). Where there is common knowledge of an incident, the organisers may (with the consent of the original complainant) make a public statement either at or after the conference. Any such statement will not include the personal or identifiable details of either party.

CALC organisers will endeavour to investigate any reported incident thoroughly and fairly on a case-by-case basis. The decision of CALC organisers is final (e.g. a decision to remove a person from the event following an investigation cannot be further contested). Following the event, we are open to feedback and further discussion that does not deny the facts of the occurrence.
