- More teachers are aware that in order to educate students regarding their history, they must engage in culturally appropriate teaching practices to best support students. The community of Richmond has many educational resources like the San Pablo & Richmond Public Library that offers tutoring, and other resources for students that might need more support.
- What are local challenges?
- Richmond has a negative stigma of violence. Many people fail to recognize the beauty of our community because it is masked by solely negative news that media decides to show. Richmond has moved towards a more asset based grown roots organizing community. There are many clubs and organizations started by members within the community that want to see it flourish.
- What should I know as a teacher in this community?
- Kids that grew up in richmond want educators that they can relate to. Students are passionate about where they are from, so teachers should learn how to incorporate that into the classrooms.
