Our Mission

The Coalition for Affordable Housing and Transit is a volunteer-run community of Durham Residents that brings key stakeholders together to increase affordable, safe, and secure housing and quality transit options in Durham, NC, through four pillars;

Learning, relationship building, information sharing, and advocacy.

Our Structure

Coordinating Committee

The Coordinating Committee oversees the overall operations, coordinates the four volunteer teams, and supports them with updates on local, regional, and state housing initiatives. The group meets virtually on the first Monday of each month and is open to all supporters. Please email CAHT for more information and access to the session.

Policy Committee

The Policy Committee determines the emergent and urgent issues recommended for CAHT involvement. The group meets every 3rd Monday of the month at the Frist Presbyterian Church, 305 E. Main Street in Downtown Durham. All Durham residents are invited to attend. Please visit CAHT's event page for calendar information.

CAHT supporters

The General body of supporters meets monthly to make CAHT general body decisions and disseminate information to the Durham community. The group virtual-only meetings are regularly scheduled for the 4th or 5th Tuesday of the month. All supporters are invited to attend. Please email CAHT for more information and access to the session.

Our Volunteer Teams

Communications Team

The Communications Team is responsible for ensuring important information is distributed throughout the organization.

Technology Team

The Technology Team assists the organization with its on-site, hybrid, and virtual meetings. The team also provides technology training, as required.

Data and Records Team

The Data and Records Team manages CAHT's historical and project management records using Trello and Google Drive technology.

Community Outreach Team

The Community Outreach team seeks to provide on-the-ground support for individuals struggling with affordable housing issues.

City Officials and Staff

CAHT volunteers seek to collaborate with the City government staff, City Council members, County Commissioners, and School Board leaders.
