Join a team of two (or three) and work together to reverse engineer a foamboard F-16 or F-18 "profile jet"! In the first 6 weeks your team will be busy building, practicing on the flight simulator, and getting UAS TRUST certified to fly at the first Fly-Day of the semester.
Your teams next project will The Hardpoint Project, which is to reverse engineer hardpoints (actuated dropping mechanisms) for use in the final Fly-Day challenge. You will be taught the basics of 3D modeling, how to read an engineering drawing, and how to 3D print. You will also be taught how to access the laser cutter (located in the prototyping lab).
Once your hardpoints are complete your team will need to decide how to use them at the final Fly-day competition. This begins your final project -- The Payload Project. You will use your creativity and other new skills to design and manufacture payloads to deploy from your hardpoints. These skills will prepare you for even greater aeronautical projects in the semesters to come!
