Bluegrass Youth Sustainability Council is a project-based, student-led coalition of student-leaders from ten Lexington public and private high schools.
Led by two Co-Student Facilitators & Project Committee Chairs, BYSC creates enduring change throughout Lexington's campuses and community through Project Committee projects and critical partnerships with local, state and global businesses, nonprofits and elected officials.
Former BYSC Member Eve Miller (class of '12, LFUCG Long Range Planner) speaks to 25-26 BYSC as our November Green Career Spotlight.
Over BYSC's 15+ yr history, we have installed two water bottle refiling stations in all BYSC-represented high schools, installed eight campus solar benches, planted countless campus trees, conducted dozens of energy audits, hosted Lexington's first Council-at-Large Candidate Sustainability Forum, installed athletic field dual stream recycling receptacles on all BYSC-represented high schools, volunteered with 20+ local nonprofits, elected leaders and business owners and mentored 40+ elementary and middle school Green Teams, just to name a few.
Our potential is limitless and our passion is boundless!
