Equipment

The Division of Hematology has a number of capital equipment available to the labs. Below is a list of equipment available within the division and a description of its use. Information on training and contacts for support is also provided.

BioRad Chemidoc Touch Digital Chemiluminescence Imager

This system:

1. Allows us to take digital images of protein gels (in addition to all the capabilities of a traditional GelDoc).

2. Eliminates the costly need for film and developer and reduce harmful waste products.

3. Streamlines research efforts with faster, more sensitive and versatile technology.

4. Does not require any additional consumables, and comes with free analysis software and training for as many people as needed.

5. All software is always free for the lifetime of the instrument

All labs wishing to use this system will need to setup time for training before use. Training is conducted by our BioRad representative, Warren King. Warren can be reached at Warren_King@bio-rad.com

FACS

Canto II

Fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) is a specialized type of flow cytometry. It provides a method for sorting a heterogeneous mixture of biological cells into two or more containers, one cell at a time, based upon the specific light scattering and fluorescent characteristics of each cell.

To schedule time on the Canto, please reach out to Damien Wilpitz at Dwilpitz@broadinstitute.org
