Directed Drawing

Directed Drawings are a great way to work on the foundational skills needed for writing in a very fun way! If you are using online instruction, the kids can go at their own pace by pausing the video if they need more time to draw. If they have difficulty, it may help to show them the direction of the next stroke with your finger and they can follow along with their pencil. Or draw lightly and they can trace your line (step-by-step) and then color it after!

Fun sites for directed drawing:

  • Art for Kids Hub - Some of these drawings will look familiar. Your kids LOVE this site and so many of them ask me if we can do these drawings. They have a lot of famous characters like Mario Bros., Pokemon, My Little Pony, great holiday ideas, and adorable cartoon foods too!
