PSEA Vice-President Korri Brown, 1978 - 2019
On Saturday, May 18, 2019, while at the Spring House of Delegates, local leaders from across the state were shocked and grief-stricken when it was announced that incumbent PSEA-Vice Presidential Candidate Korri Brown passed away.
Today, May 22, would have been Korri's 41st birthday. Her home local Kennett Education Association asked that we all remember Korri today by wearing red, a tribute to her leadership and tenacity in her fight to ensure excellent public schools for all of Pennsylvania's students and teachers.
We at the Burrell Education Association extend our heartfelt sympathy to our PSEA Brothers and Sisters in Kennett Square and across the Commonwealth who are mourning the loss of a terrific leader. We are proud to go #RedForKorri.
We fondly bid farewell to the graduating class of 2019! At the Senior Awards and Scholars Celebration, held at Burrell High School on May 15, BEA Vice-President Dan Pounds presented two very deserving seniors with $1,500 scholarships.
The money was raised by selling Jeans Day Friday's across the district to teachers, support staff, and administrators. And, as is tradition, we also award one $1500 scholarship to the graduating senior of one of our own members.
This year's recipient of the at-large scholarship is Alex Capsambelis. This year's recipient of the member scholarship is Hannah Fisher, daughter of 1st Grade Teacher Rebecca Fisher.
On behalf of the teachers of the Burrell Education Association, please know that your hard work, determination, and achievements have made us all very proud. We wish the Class of 2019 all the best in creating lives filled with peace, love, happiness, and life-long learning!

Why are Pennsylvania’s public schools among the best in the nation? Because parents, community leaders, elected officials, and educators are working together as partners.
PSEA formed a community outreach program, Partners for Public Education, to bring these partners together to provide them with information about public education policy in Pennsylvania, and to create connections with public schools in their communities.
There's no cost to join, and as a Partner, you will receive news about the schools in your community and opportunities to speak up about school funding cuts and other issues. Partners also receive discounts and savings at businesses nationwide.
To date, thousands have joined Partners for Public Education. And PSEA and BEA members are working to help partners understand the power of a great education.
