The first one is knowing the forms of bullying and recognizing the effects. They have recognized three types:
The second recommendation is to promote a positive classroom environment, each child needs to feel valued and this can be established by positive relationships between teacher and students as well as student to student.
The third recommendation that is mention is to teach a variety of conflict resolution strategies to the students. Students need strategies for preventing and stopping bullying.
The fourth recommendation is to use biblio-therapy by including bullying topics in lesson plans and books that give positive experiences for solving bullying .
The fifth recommendation is to respond to incidents of bullying because many children are afraid that the teacher will not respond and may not be able to stop the bullying and the bullying may get worse.
The sixth recommendation that is highlighted is to help the students develop new roles such as roles of "resister", "defender", and "witness"; since bullying is typically not seen by adults, it's possible to teach students to solve the issue of bullying by helping them develop these new rules, bullying can be stopped if just one student has the moral strength and courage to face and confront it.
The seventh and final recommendation is to provide is to be a positive role model. Teachers and other adults in the school environment are playing a part whether they are consciously or unconsciously aware of it. Modeling confidence, problem solving skills and decision making skills communicate and exhibit positive role modeling for students and other adults.
