The Jane Adeny Memorial School (JAMS) is an all-girls secondary school started by Dr. Teresa Wasonga in Muhuroni, Kenya. While there was a designated school library space within the school's resource center, the collection in the Judith Wehrmeister Library was not cataloged or organized. The collection also lacked "mirrors" for the girls attending the school with most of the books provided through donations from the United States and featuring white characters. In our conversations with Dr. Wasonga, we learned that implementing a systematic cataloging process would make it easier for students and staff to locate and access books in the library while ensuring the collection is maintained and utilized more effectively. Along with working with the existing materials, we wanted to provide additional books that are "mirrors" for the young women who attend the school and arrived with 16 suitcases packed with books and library supplies. Librarians Building Librarians supported a three-week project at JAMS in July 2025 where certified school librarians cataloged and organized materials while simultaneously training students and staff at the school to support Dr. Wasonga's vision for a vibrant, functional learning center that significantly enriches students' educational experiences.
