What park do we meet at?
Our home park is Powell Station Park located at 2318 W Emory Rd, Powell, TN 37849. Sometimes we will be at other locations, so watch for updates!
Where do we meet in the park?
You will typically find us in the outdoor classroom area of our park, which is back behind the skate park. We all typically park in the big back lot. When it rains, we usually gather under the pavilion next to the splash pad.
Are there bathrooms at the park?
Yes, but they close them in the winter. Because they don’t want the pipes to freeze (I’d imagine it has something to do with the splash pad being right there), they close the bathrooms as soon as we get our first big freeze. This usually happens toward the end of October or early November. They will remain closed until the spring, usually the end of April or early May.
So what do we do if we have to use the restroom when they're closed?
You have options. There’s a Bojangles that’s right next to the high school that has never said anything to us about using their bathrooms. There’s also some of us who will drive down to the Weigel’s on Clinton Hwy. We are trying to work out an agreement with the salon next door, or possibly one of the shops across the street. If you think you could be of assistance in this endeavor, please contact us!
Powell Station Disc Golf and what you need to know:
Our park has a 9-hole disc golf course. We don’t usually see anyone on Thursday mornings, but very rarely we will, and we strongly encourage you to stand out of the way. Some of them can be rude, and play right through. Others will at least call out to us to let us know our kids are in their way. It's best for the children to avoid them when possible.
Encountering Transients:
There are rare occasions when you may encounter transients in the park. While generally harmless, we discourage conversations/interactions. Please remind your child(ren) about ‘Stranger Danger.’ Because we are in session during school hours (Powell High School is right next door), there are police officers in the area who we frequently see and speak with.
