When does Rhythm Barefoot at BU Powell start?
Our official “First Day” will be at Powell Station Park on Thursday, Sept. 5th at 10:30am.
When does BU Powell we meet?
BU Powell meets every Thursday from September through May except Thanksgiving (Nov 28), Christmas (Dec 26), and Spring Break (Mar 6).
How long do we meet?
So, our whole program lasts for 36 weeks. But if you're wondering about our hangouts at the park on Thursdays, we usually chill there for 2-3 hours.
Where do we meet?
Most weeks we will be at our Home Park – Powell Station Park. Occasionally, we need to visit other places to accommodate our topic of learning for the day. i.e. Pond life = meet at a pond, etc. We try to keep these locations as close to our home park as possible.
An example of where we meet:
We like to visit Lower Clear Creek in Norris. It’s a beautiful, clean creek setting on TVA land with enough water to play, but not so much to be too dangerous for our littles. Please take a minute to familiarize yourself with Norris Dam State Park / TVA area as we do visit it occasionally. On the days that we meet at a different park, the meet time will be 11am!!!
Do we get holidays off? Do you follow Knox County Schools schedule?
We'll be meeting every Thursday except Thanksgiving (Nov 28), Christmas (Dec 26), and Spring Break (Mar 6). These “off days” may be different between Barefoot groups. Groups are given 3 days off, and as the leaders have the freedom to choose those days. And no, we don't follow their schedule.
How do we know what to bring every week?
We try to post twice a week as a reminder on the App and on Facebook each week about our Thursday meeting. The App will email you. You will be well informed as long as you check your email regularly and/or the Facebook group. You can also text/email Sarah or I anytime.
I read somewhere that we shouldn’t miss a meeting. Why is it important to attend as many BU meets as possible?
Because we build upon previous skills and concepts each week, it's really important to be there. Furthermore, BU’s success relies upon each family’s active participation.
