Buffalo Dave’s square dance music was getting so popular that he decided to create the The Square Dance Heroes to focus on old time country folk music and traditional country music for square dancing. He wanted to create a little looser feel for the project and it's been fun and folks have enjoyed it!
The Square Dance Music spotify playlist has many of Buffalo Dave's songs in it.

Square dance music originated from European folk dance music, but evolved into a uniquely American art form with contributions from different European immigrants, African Americans, and Native Americans. Musicians and callers incorporated elements from their own musical traditions. Initially played on live instruments like the fiddle, banjo, and guitar, modern square dance music is often pre-recorded and features a wide variety of instruments.
American square dance music has made it's way back to Europe where square dancing is very popular. The Irish or Scottish ceilidh (a Gaelic word for a social event with traditional music and dance) often includes some traditional American square dance tunes.
