Our troop has three methods of communication with parents and scouts on events: Scoutbook, this website, and Facebook
Scoutbook is the primary platform of record for events. Scouts, adult leaders, and parents should RSVP for events as much as possible to indicate whether they are attending an event or not. This allows scouts and leaders to more easily plan for the upcoming event.
The calendar on Scoutbook is designed to capture attendance and details about the event such as location, duration and what kind of event it is: meeting, service, outdoors, advancement etc.. We use it to disseminate reminders about upcoming events and to send e-mails with information or queries to parents and leaders. Scouts can use it to send messages as well, as long as their parents have given them access (see the Scoutbook button to see more details).
Our Public Facebook Page, Troop 316 Ewa Beach, is one of our recruitment and advertising tools where we post generalized upcoming events, general pictures of our scouts' activities, and articles of interest to scouting. If someone has a question about scouting, they can using the messaging button, and one of our admins will usually answer within 24 hours or less.
Our Troop also maintains a closed FaceBook group, called We Are 316, to which only registered members and alumni may be admitted. We most more detailed schedules, coordination issues, and more pictures in this group.
