An annotated bibliography is a collection of research sources with relevant summaries (the "annotation" part) of the material for later use in composition of your research paper. The entries in your bibliography should include a proper APA citation for easy copy and paste into your references, an exposition of the contents of the source as relevant to your research problem, and any observations about how you anticipate the source can be used in your research paper.
Kelyng, J. (1660). A report of divers cases in pleas of the Crown, adjudged and determined, in the reign of the late King Charles II, with directions for justices of the peace and others (3rd ed. 1873).
- This early common law treatise was cited by the Court of Criminal Appeals in Sanchez to show the ancient history of the prohibition against trying prisoners in restraints. Kelyng recounts how the defendants in the treason trials after the execution of King Charles were allowed to be free from their restraints at trial even though charged with the overthrow and murder of the King.
Oklahoma Statutes, Title 22, § 15 (2001).
- Statute considered by the Court of Criminal Appeals in Sanchez v. State, which says: No person can be compelled in a criminal action to be witness against himself; nor can a person charged with a public offense be subjected before conviction to any more restraint than is necessary for his detention to answer the charge, and in no event shall he be tried before a jury while in chains or shackles.
