Brushstrokes for the Bay

a Bay Area Youth Environmental Project
Brushstrokes for the Bay is Eco Innovate's sister initiative. Started in 2025, we aim to paint murals that highlight environmental issues through storytelling all over the Bay Area! We hope that these artworks will continue to perpetuate the Eco Innovate mission and act as public platforms for environmental educational and action. We are always on the lookout for potential mural sites and would greatly appreciate any help! Look below for some ways YOU can contribute!
Brushstrokes for the Bay is so excited to announce the results of our first Art Competition! We received many amazing submissions from elementary and middle schools throughout the Bay Area. Congratulations to our talented winners, and a huge thank you to everyone who participated! Be sure to keep an eye out for our next seasonal art competition!
1st Place - Diya Gupta (Warwick Elementary School)
Artist Statement: This piece is focused on what I call home, my family. Each member of my family contributes something to our "home," from my dad's love of baking to my mom's love of flowers to my little sister always asking me to play with her dolls. They help make me who I am and their small gestures of kindness help keep my sense of "home," my family, intact.
2nd Place - Anaya Chadha (Centerville Middle School)
Artist Statement: My artwork shows winter as a time when kindness helps protect the place we call home. The warm house represents comfort and safety, while the snowy outdoors shows how winter can be challenging for people, animals, and nature. The small actions, like feeding animals, planting trees, and recycling, show how simple acts of kindness can care for the environment and make our home healthier and safer for everyone.
3rd Place - Arjun Das Forest Park Elementary School
Artist Statement: My artwork shows a warm home during winter surrounded by snow. Even though it is cold outside, the house looks bright and safe because of love and kindness. The children in the picture are helping by clearing snow, sharing gifts, and taking care of each other. The snowman represents friendship and joy, and the birds show caring for nature. This drawing connects to the theme because small acts of kindness—like helping family, caring for neighbors, and protecting nature—make our home a happy and safe place. When we are kind, we protect not just our house but our whole community.
