A Paleolithic Site in Eastern Europe
The Paleolithic (or "Old Stone Age") and Neolithic ("New Stone Age") periods are largely dominated by archaeologists rather than historians, as there are no written records from these time periods. The only evidence we have to make sense of the lives of the people of these periods is physical evidence-tools, bones, pottery shards, seeds, etc. With a lack of written records, these periods of history (or prehistory) seem to lack what the rest of history offers: stories. Yet we can still use the tools and everyday items, including artwork, that these people left behind to infer what the stories of their everyday life might have been like.
