She completed training as a Florida Master Gardener in 2012 at the Davie Extension office, and completed training as a Wildlife Gardener as well as training to lead Junior Master Gardener programs at Texas A&M University. Robert W. Sutton currently serves as the elected Supervisor of Broward Soil and Water Conservation District Seat #2, bringing a lifetime of dedication to environmental education, sustainable living, and community conservation. A passionate advocate for green innovation and natural stewardship, Sutton has spent decades championing conservation efforts throughout Broward County and beyond.
Sutton’s commitment to the environment is not only professional but deeply personal. His own home in Broward County stands as a living testament to sustainable urban gardening, featuring over 100 varieties of plants, fruit trees, vegetables, shrubs, and flowering species. From star fruit, mangoes, cherries, pineapples, and dragon fruit, to medicinal herbs, orchirds, and native flora, Sutton demonstrates how conservation can begin at home—literally.
One of his most inspiring achievements includes organizing an educational field trip for local middle school students to Aqua Liana, a $30 million, LEED-certified green mansion in Manalapan, Florida, built by renowned real estate artist Frank McKinney. These trips provided students with a firsthand experience of how architecture, ecology, and sustainability can coexist at the highest level. Sutton believes exposure to such innovation helps shape the next generation of conservation leaders.
Throughout his career, Sutton has partnered with schools, community organizations, and local government agencies to increase environmental awareness and promote smart land and water use policies. His work aligns with the mission of the Broward Soil and Water Conservation District: to conserve natural resources through education, outreach, and sustainable practices.
Whether teaching students about water efficiency, participating in local cleanups, or planting fruit trees with community groups, Robert W. Sutton continues to lead by example—proving that real environmental impact starts at the grassroots level.
U.S. Navy Veteran | Community Advocate | Environmental Steward
Celeste Ellich, a proud U.S. Navy veteran, has dedicated her life to service—both to her country and her community. Originally from the Houston area, she made Florida her home in 1981 and has spent over 40 years in Wilton Manors, known as the Island City. With a lifelong passion for the water, Celeste has lived by waterways for more than five decades and remains deeply committed to protecting and preserving them.
Her commitment to environmental stewardship is hands-on. Whether canoeing around the Middle River with a trash bag in tow, organizing street cleanups, or leading community volunteer efforts, Celeste has always embodied service through action. She served six years on the Wilton Manors Recreation Advisory Board and, as President of Recreation Volunteers for 20 years, led the adoption and upkeep of a city street. Her dedication has extended to countless Waterway, Beach, and Coastal Cleanups throughout Broward County.
Celeste has twice lobbied on Capitol Hill for River Action Day with the American Rivers organization and has taken part in national service projects through The Mission Continues, working alongside fellow veterans to build composters, create walking trails, install irrigation systems, and prepare land for planting in communities across Washington, D.C., San Antonio, and Tampa.
Known locally for one of the most productive mango trees in Wilton Manors, Celeste shares hundreds of pieces of fruit each year with neighbors and nurtures baby mango trees to gift to others. Her love of the land extends to experimenting with growing pineapples and avocados.
Above all, Celeste is a patriot who believes that protecting rivers and natural resources transcends politics. To her, it is not a red or blue issue—it is a red, white, and blue issue.
