Cybersecurity in the news 

This article is about how researcher Vishal Bhaskar, unexpectedly hacked into a previous volkswagen car owners information by a one step authentication factor. He put in the right 4 digit code and gained access to personal and vehicle information. He uncovered internal usernames, passwords, tokens and credentials for third party payment processors. He then entered the VIN number to the car and gained access to personal details and service histories. How did a big corporation like volkswagen not see this huge gap in cyber security?

This article is talking about deep fake and phishing scams using AI to generate voice memos  and videos and how its getting harder to detect. Deep fakes went from 500,000 to 8 million from 2023, Scared that deep fakes will go mainstream, but its not as popular as other scams yet but it convinces the older generation. Deep Fakes  are very evolved, only needing one impersonation of the person to be as real as possible. Deep fake fraudsters and phishers have no shortage of people personal data to exploit, all from failures in cybersecurity and from public accounts on media pages.

Lessons Learned:

I'm kinda scared thinking about how much information people have about me without my knowledge. Its crazy that these apps and websites can gain access to your privacy all with one button that people don't even read! I'm going to be really careful with who I give access to from now on.
